Work has been carried out with English Heritage to capture the boundaries of Scheduled Monuments. This programme is now complete and all the Monuments are now available as polygon features.

Interactive map updates
The postcode search facility has been changed. The search is now carried out on a dataset
which contains a point representing every postcode unit in England (e.g. LS16 5QT). A
postcode unit contains an average of 15 addresses. The search was previously carried out on
a postcode sector (e.g. LS16 5), so the new dataset provides a more precise method of
locating via postcodes.
To use the postcode search within the Interactive Map, click on the "Search Options" tab
above the Interactive Map and click on "Postcode".
A new page giving information on creating IACS compliant numbers from
grid references has been added, and the FAQs page updated to
reflect this.
The FAQs page has also been updated to include information on the
use of cookies and the dataset download facility, and links to information for the Soilscape dataset.

Capture of Scheduled Monuments Boundaries
The first stage of the programme to capture Scheduled Monument boundaries is complete and a significant number of the boundaries are now available. However,
work is ongoing to capture the remaining boundaries and these Scheduled Monuments are still only available as indicative points.
To enable all features to be shown in one layer, a combined layer of points and polygons has been created. A triangle was constructed around each point
in the point dataset to create a polygon feature. This was then joined to the polygon dataset to create a combined layer containing all Scheduled Monuments.
The field FEAT_TYPE records whether the feature has been created from a point or whether it is a boundary polygon.
